Privacy Policy, OpportunityHub

OpportunityHub is a free platform that helps students find scholarships, competitions, research programs, internships and more. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We are based in Saudi Arabia and handle personal data in line with the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL).

What we collect

Account details: your name, email address and password. Your password is stored as a secure one-way hash, never in plain text.
Profile details you choose to add: a profile photo (and how you framed it) and a short bio.
Activity on the site: opportunities you bookmark, applications you track, your recent searches, notifications we send you, and reviews you post.
Content you post: opportunities and partnerships you submit, including any logos or files you upload.
Newsletter details: if you subscribe to the weekly digest, your email address and the categories and fields you pick.
Technical data: your IP address (including the one used to create your account) and when you last visited. We use these to keep the site secure, limit abuse (for example, too many login attempts or too many accounts from one connection) and enforce bans.
Moderation records: warnings, strikes and bans given to an account, with the reason.

We don't collect your date of birth, phone number, address, or payment details, and we never ask for more than we need to run the site.

Why we use it

To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
To show you opportunities and save your bookmarks, tracked applications and searches.
To send the weekly digest, but only if you subscribed and confirmed your email.
To review submissions before they go live and keep the community safe.
To protect the site against spam, abuse and attacks.

We do not sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or analytics tools.

Who we share it with

We only share data with the services we need to run OpportunityHub:

Our hosting provider, which stores the website and its database.
Our email delivery provider, which we use to send emails such as the newsletter confirmation and weekly digest.

Your name may be visible to other users on things you post, such as reviews. Opportunity listings are public once approved. We may also disclose data if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Your account data is kept until you delete your account.
Newsletter data is deleted as soon as you unsubscribe.
Strikes stop counting after 60 days. Moderation records and IP-address bans may be kept longer so bans can be enforced.

Your rights and choices

See and correct your data: you can view and edit your profile at any time.
Clear your search history: from your profile page.
Unsubscribe: every digest email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
Delete your account: use "Delete my account" on your profile page. This permanently removes your account, profile photo, bookmarks, tracked applications, searches, notifications, reviews and newsletter subscription. Opportunities you posted that are already published stay on the site, but without your name. Some anonymised logs and IP bans may be kept as described above.
Ask us anything: email us to request a copy of your data or raise a privacy concern.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, please get permission from a parent or guardian before signing up. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. Parents who believe their child under 13 has signed up can contact us and we'll remove the account.

Cookies

We only use the cookies needed to make the site work. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Security

We use hashed passwords, protection against forged form submissions, rate limits on sign-in and sign-up, and human review of all submissions. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know on the site.
